One cannot stop admiring the Fjord horses of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Rugged terrain, steep and narrow trails, thick woods, mud, swamps, water crossing are all taken in stride by the willing, sure footed Fjords. Trained to respond to voice commands, our horses do not use bits for either riding or driving. These private adventures, designed for small groups of experienced horse people, are multiples of half day sessions. Inexperienced horse people are welcomed and will be introduced to horse driving. Bitless trail ridesOur trails rides are not for the faint-of-heart. They actually push the concept of teamwork with your horse to a very high level. Designed for the experienced rider, the ride is more about negotiating rough terrain than running or jumping. Using horse-friendly hackamores instead of bridles and bits allows you the luxury of teaming with your horse without the concern of hurting the horse’s mouth. These rides are a masterpiece of cooperation between you and your Fjord. Training the bitless Fjord horseWe also offer a 5 nights / 4 days package designed for those who want to learn how to train horses and themselves to ride and drive bitless.
