Flying in: You can use your own airplane or charter any commercial airplane to arrive hassle-free to our fly-in resort. Our airstrip is currently 3000 feet long, 60 feet wide gravel runway - see the VFR chart. You can file an IFR flight plan directly to us (CDW2) and your alternate can be Sydney (CYQY), which is 29 Nm to the east of Baddeck. The GPS approach is for circling but if you clear the clouds early enough you may still be able to land straight on runway 04 - depends on wind conditions. If you arrive with a private airplane from the North Eastern part of the USA, we recommend you to clear Customs at Saint John, NB (CYSJ). Please visit CANPASS for details about the Customs clearance procedure. From there it is less than 300 miles to our airstrip. Our recommended VFR route from Saint John is: CYSJ, Debert (CCQ3), Trenton (CYTN), Port Hawkesbury (CYPD), Baddeck (CDW2).
For weather information please visit NAV CANADA web site and for flight briefing and filing in Canada call FSS on 1-866-wx-brief (1-866-992-7433). You can find more flight planning resources in our Links page.
Departing By Air: If your route takes you back to the West, we recommend you to make a stop over in the Annapolis Valley (Waterville - CCW3) to enjoy the winery at Grand Pre. We will be happy to help you with the arrangements. If you fly to the USA, we recommend you to clear Customs at Bangor, ME.
