![]() Hidden away in the north-east corner of Crown Jewel, near the bank of the Baddeck River, is our apple orchard, a little gem of peace and beauty that, each autumn offers up its bounty of succulent fruit. Remnants of an orchard planted by one of the first families to farm our property, the older trees continue to produce some of the best apples to be found in the Baddeck River Valley. Each spring our trees burst forth with a breath-taking display of blossoms that range from barely pink-tinged to deep, lush rose, and every shade in between. And the fragrance! Not just another “pretty face”, the Orchard provides host plants for our honey bees and a home to an abundance of wildlife. Its apples are the mainstay of our apple cider production and a variety of related, fabulous apple products such as apple sauce, jams and home-baked goods. |
